Celebrate Under the Stars Event
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the “Celebrate Under the Stars Event at the Television Academy. It is the first event I was able to attend after a hiatus due to Covid-19.
I attended with my very good friend Lyn Pacificar. Lyn is a Filipino shamanic healer, Filipino Cultural practitioner, artist, and the owner of a company of that creates spiritual products called Herbalaria.

I met Lyn during one of the most difficult times of my life. I had lost my job and was currently on unemployment struggling to find work as a filmmaker. Lyn happened to be taking dances classes at a studio that I went to. Something about her intrigued me.
I found out what she did and I bought one of her body scrubs that contained white sage to help purify and cleanse me of all the toxic energy I was going through at the time.
I remember Lyn inviting me to her birthday party without really even knowing. I knew her for about a week and she was so kind to invite me to he birthday. Now years later we joke that it’s our friend anniversary on her birthday.
It was an emotional time for me because I could remember over five years ago when I had express my concerns about unemployment to Lyn. I remember her giving me her moldavite solstice oil and here I am 5 years later, traveling the world making documentaries.
Moldavite is regarded as a stone of change. It essentially helps take out things that aren’t serving you as well as move things rather quickly. Of course, you do need to put the effort in place. So I took her oil, and within a week, I got multiple job interviews including the current job I work at today.
Meeting Lyn has changed my life and words can’t express how amazing it was to share this experience with her all these years later. She’s been there on some of the most pivotal moments of life and so it was just a breath of fresh air to be able to look back at far I came.
Having been an active member of the TV Academy’s documentary programing peer category for about three years now, I look forward to this event. I remember many years ago, when I lived across at the Academy Village apartments, I would see these events being held. I remember just watching as people entered and I used to think how lucky they were to be able to attend. I always wished that some day I would be able to attend one of those events.
Here I am, nearly 15 years later, I am having the opportunity to not only attend events at the TV Academy, but I am also a member. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be at this point. If only I could tell my younger self to not to worry, that some day you will be able to attend one of those parties.
I am very humbled and grateful that I have the opportunity to work doing what I love. It is an absolute blessing to wake up each day and know that little girl who had silly dream of being a filmmaker, can say it’s not a dream. This is your reality.
